AKIRA (1989) POSTER.
This was my first assignment for my first year at Hull University. I'm quiet happy with how it turned out but I'd like to improve it further one day.
This is the finished poster and the following is my given brief:

"For my Campaign Graphic I decided to use the work of Akira, a manga and film created by Katsuhiro Otomo. I used a scene from his manga, I edited this by added various textures to give the “Grainy” effect on the image, I also added a white border and added text to the image, the text says “Akira” in Japanese. I chose to do this to add to the overall aesthetic of the poster. my aim for this piece was to create a retro feel as the manga came out in 1982. I added various quotes from the manga, including Kaneda’s famous jacket quote, “Good for health, Bad for Education” in Japanese too. I also added the “demon image” in the bottom left, I used the image in a similar way to the previous one, by using textures and a border. I opted for no text one this one to allow the viewer to see the whole image. I then added a brief description about the manga on the right, to give the viewer an insight to what the manga is about.
I continued to use the same colour scheme throughout to keep the overall theme together. the demon image is from another series but they both have a similar genre, that being adult Japanese animation/manga.
finally, I added two tag lines from the film adaptation, “Signal traced from Tokyo!” and “Neo-Tokyo is about to explode” both in Japanese."
MOCK UPS.
The mock ups for my poster, I chose urban settings as I feel that is the best place to hit my target audience for my poster and also the film.
